Opening an XM account for Edamame is the fastest way to get started if you do not already have a compatible broker. XM account setup connects directly to MT5 and gives you access to Edamame at no software cost.
The process covers creating your account, opening the XM account itself, setting up a VPS so trading continues while your device is off, and choosing your risk level and monthly stop loss before you activate. If you already have an MT5 broker instead, see connecting your existing broker.
1. Create your Edamame account
Download the Edamame app or use the web app. Tap Create an account and enter your details.
2. Choose “Create a new XM account”
On the broker selection screen, choose the XM route. This connects your onboarding to XM and unlocks the free Edamame access path.
3. Confirm country and legal name
Your country must match your government-issued ID. Your name must be your legal name, exactly as it appears on that document.
4. Choose your VPS server
A VPS keeps Edamame running even when your phone or computer is switched off. Choose the server closest to your region, subject to final availability.
5. Review details and open the XM account
Check every detail before submission. When you confirm, your details are sent to XM for account processing and verification.
6. Enable push notifications
Notifications keep you informed when a trade executes, a position closes or account status changes. See managing notifications for the full list of alert types.
7. Wait for verification
XM verifies the account and sends next-step instructions. You receive a notification when the account is ready.
8. Choose risk level
Select the risk profile that matches how you want Edamame to size positions for your account.
9. Choose monthly stop loss
Set the maximum monthly loss threshold you are comfortable with. Once reached, Edamame will not open new positions for the rest of the month.
10. Activate Edamame
Review the confirmation, accept the risk acknowledgment and activate only once you understand how the system will operate.
